GR Yaris ligner kanskje mye på sin navnebror, men det er en mye villere skapning, med mye mer mangfold enn du kanskje tror.

Vi testet en GR Yaris med den viktige beltepakken, inkludert 18" smidde lettmetallfelger, røde bremsekalipere, sportsfjærer og de viktige Torsen-differensialene foran og bak.
GR Yaris er designet for å levere ekstremt sportslig kjøreglede, så vi forstår ikke helt hvorfor du kan velge den med en ganske irrelevant komfortpakke som hindrer deg i å velge den essensielle banepakken.

Så Toyota har ikke funnet plass til en bakrute-"vasker", og det er heller ikke helt optimalt i forhold til sikt bakover når det er mange salte veier utenfor.

Karbonfiberforsterket plasttak for å spare litt vekt, rammeløse aluminiumsdører for å spare vekt. GR Yaris veier 1280 kg så det blir moro, selv om motoren kan høres litt liten ut på papiret, er det også et bevisst valg for å spare vekt.

Vi kom over GR YarisKenshikiforum i Amsterdam januar 2020, før pandemien rammet oss, og da ville jeg bare ta den ut og kjøre den, så nå var det veldig godt å endelig kunne kjøre den et år senere.

I videoen over er det litt dum kjøring på en snødekt parkeringsplass i sportsmodus med traction control slått av, og den slags kjøring er klarert på forhånd, hvis du ikke gjør det, er det ikke bra å kjøre slik .

Det var kjempegøy også!

GR Yaris er bygget i Motomachi i Japan, hvor også LFA og Supra A80 er laget. De er håndlagde for å være ekstra robuste og sporty, og tar omtrent 10 ganger så lang tid å sette sammen en GR Yaris som å sette sammen en vanlig Yaris. En egenutviklet plattform, egenutviklet motor, egenutviklet GRFOUR AWD-system, det er mye her som er utviklet internt takket være Toyota-president Akio Toyoda og hans store interesse for motorsport.

Vi gleder oss til å teste GR Yaris med sommerdekk på tørr vei, for vi mistenker at det blir en magisk opplevelse.
Moro var det også på snø, men da er det litt mer begrenset hvor aktivt man tør å kjøre på svingete veier.

Forsetene er sporty bøtteseter som holder deg på plass, men som ikke har alle justeringsmuligheter.

Passasjersetet er for eksempel ikke justerbart i høyden og det hever seg litt høyt etter min smak.

Førerstolen er justerbar i høyden, men jeg hadde ikke blitt lei meg om jeg kunne sittet litt lavere. Jeg tror ikke det er så lett å finjustere vinkelen på ryggstøtten hvis du har en spak som "løsner ryggen", men det er sikkert folk som foretrekker spaker i stedet for justeringsanordninger, som jeg synes at de er litt mer korrekt. .

Lengden og vinkelen på seteputen er ikke justerbar, men jeg mistenker at de fleste vil finne den behagelig.

Styret er justerbart, men for meg hadde det vært flott å kunne justere lengden noen cm til.

På høyre side av rattet sitter knapper for å betjene den adaptive cruisekontrollen, kjekt å ha på lange reiser.

Når du starter bilen og det er kaldt, blir du advart om overdreven akselerasjon. Så det er med alle høyytelsesbiler at motoren har godt av litt oppvarming før du virkelig akselererer.

Du skjønner ganske raskt når du ser en slik melding at du ikke er i en vanlig Yaris.

Startknappen og mye mer er merket GR, forkortelsen som brukes for Gazoo Racing, Toyotas Racing-merke.

Mellom forsetene finner du et WRC-emblem, for denne bilen ble opprinnelig laget fordi Toyota skulle konkurrere i WRC i 2020, men så ble 2020 litt merkelig, du kan lett legge merke til rallygenene i GR Yaris.

Kobler du til mobiltelefonen via USB får du Apple CarPlay eller Android Auto og du kan da bruke Google Maps for navigering.

I tillegg til navigasjon er det du må levere fra komfortpakken også head-up display, JBL-system, blindsonevarsling, varsling for kryssende trafikk bak bilen og parkeringssensorer.

Fokuset her er på eksepsjonell kjøreegenskaper og kilovis med kjøreglede, så GR Yaris er en bil for de som ikke bare elsker svingete veier, men elsker svingete veier samtidig som den gjør kjøretøyet like morsomt å kjøre som denne. Med dette fokuset vet du at det er mange svært dyre løsninger i en GR Yaris, og at 589.900 kr for en GR Yaris med banepakke (Circuit Edition) er ganske billig i forhold til hva du får for pengene i ren destillert kjøreglede, på fire hjul som er boltet til flotte smidde lettmetallfelger.
